We offer our users three different authentication methods on Railpage, in an effort to make logging in as flexible as possible.
When you log into Railpage you have the option of choosing from one of the following authentication providers:
Railpage (ie, an account created with Railpage)
Both Google and Facebook are OpenID Connect providers. OpenID is a worldwide standard for user authentication. Using Google as an example, you can log into Railpage using your Google account. Just click the red "Sign in with Google" button on the login page, and if you're logged into Google you'll get logged straight into Railpage. If you're not logged in, Google will ask you to log in before redirecting you back to Railpage.
The big advantage of using an OpenID provider is that you don't have to remember another username or password to get into Railpage. Of course, we're keeping our own user authentication platform for those people who don't want to use a Facebook or Google account.
